Island always fascinated me. The recent eruption of the volcano Eyjafjallajokull only reinforced my fascination. Whenever I travel between San Francisco and Europe, and after many hours of flight, suddenly spots the shimmering lights of Reykjavik as if from nowhere, in the midst of a comprehensive darkness. Island is here to remind us that nature is still liable - recent volcanic eruptions certainly proves this to be true
country of fantastic natural beauty and surprises - there is nothing to it anywhere - at Iceland's stark, pristine scenery shapes the otherworldly landscapes - a tapestry of colorful flower-filled valley, the contrast of the desolate deserts of the moon with a pitted volcanic wonders, with its jagged lava fields and monstrous icecaps, its hot springs and geysers, its multitude of blue fjords all have carved a bizarre feature not seen anywhere else in the world. More than 200 volcanoes and numerous glaciers form the country background, with almost 80% of the country are lava deserts, glaciers and lakes.
That being said, Paradise Island is an adventurer - whale watching, rock climbing, horseback riding, rafting and kayaking, glacier hiking, biking, bird watching and swimming in the geothermal heated pools are just some of the activities on offer. Due to the violent volcanic heritage village is beautiful and interesting from every angle. Cliffs, waterfalls, geysers, mountains, glaciers, fjords, hot water springs, lava beds, rapids, extensive nature preserves and parks - that's all
!Reykjavik (which means "smoky bay" after steam rising everywhere from the many hot springs) is the gateway to the country and the only "big" grad.Čist air, the bluest sky and colorful buildings are so vivid that remind me of impressionist paintings. For the largest city (150,000 inhabitants), it is surprisingly active, with a thriving cultural and social life, including museums, exhibitions and festivals throughout the year.
south of the Island offers some of the best sights in zemlji.Veliki Geysir, after which all the world spouting Hot Springs is called to find ovdje.Geysir began erupting in the early 14th century, and stopped at the beginning of the 20th century. Today Strokkur, his younger brother, spouts more than 100 ft every few minutes. Walking around this natural wonder, really felt the intensity of the forces of nature.
Icelandic waterfalls are legion. Where one turns, it appears one after the other. Imbued with a beautiful warm light, the most dramatic of these is the Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall). Here HVIT River tumbles with a huge force in the double cascade into a deep canyon. When the sun shines, slap a massive spray form of colorful shirts in the afternoon light. There are also two of Iceland the most active volcano, Mt. Hekla and Mt. Katta, and to the east, you can see a large colony of puffins from the coast.
in the mountainous and uninhabited barren deserts of the interior are every bit as beautiful as the central Sahara. The North Coast has some of the most diverse landscapes in Islandu.Veličanstven Vatnajokull, Europe's largest glacier is a stark contrast to the lunar terrain area, where Neil Armstrong and his colleagues trained before landing on the moon. Boiling mud pools, parks with a naturally formed sculptures of lions and steaming craters, such as Viti crater, which erupted in 1984 and steam until today, can be found here. In contrast, the beautiful Lake Myvatn birdwatchers paradise, with lots of birds and birds roaming the area.
North Coast is also home to Iceland's longest fjord, where you can enjoy a boat ride among the blue-mold lagoons. Whale watching trips are an integral part of this area as well. During the summer solstice, the northern boast an extraordinary spectacle of the midnight sun, which sinks into touch the horizon before the resurrection of beautiful hues of red and gold. Among the numerous thermal Hot Springs, Blue Lagoon, famous for its healing properties, is the ultimate indulgence to the end of the adventure-packed day - soak in thermal waters, to relax and re-power
This young-at-heart is an ancient country with its diverse geology, Volcanic border, there is probably one of the world's most fascinating adventure family travel. No words can match images -. Extremely incredibly vivid it is to be taken straight from a big picture book illustrations
